Privacy Policy — ALIRA KSSR English Picture Dictionary & ALIRA Numerasi
Effective date: 3 September 2026
Cikgu.xyz ("we", "us") operates two companion Android apps: ALIRA KSSR English Picture Dictionary ("ALIRA Dict") and ALIRA Numerasi. This one policy covers both, since they share the same developer and the same approach to data. This page explains what data each app collects and how it is used.
Summary
Neither app collects, stores, or sells any personal data, and neither contains advertising, analytics, or tracking of any kind.
- ALIRA Numerasi works entirely offline. It requests no Android permissions at all — not even network access — so it cannot connect to the internet under any circumstance.
- ALIRA Dict connects to the internet for exactly one purpose: checking for and downloading updated dictionary content (corrected or added vocabulary, images), so a fix can reach the app without waiting for a Play Store update. No personal data is collected or sent as part of this, or at any other time.
Data collection
Neither app:
- requires an account, login, or sign-up
- uses analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs
- collects, stores, or transmits your name, location, contacts, photos, or any other personal information
- shares any data with third parties, because no data is collected in the first place
Internet access
- ALIRA Numerasi requests no internet permission and cannot connect to the network at all.
- ALIRA Dict requests internet access for exactly one purpose: checking for and downloading updated dictionary content (vocabulary text and images) from our content repository. These update checks:
- happen automatically when the app opens, only while the device is online, and never block or slow down using the app
- fetch only a small content index and, when something has changed, the specific files that changed — never anything about you personally
- carry no account, login, device ID, or advertising ID; they are no different from loading a public webpage
- can be restricted to Wi-Fi only, via Settings → "Update content on Wi-Fi only" (on by default)
- are entirely optional to the app working: if the device is offline or a check fails, the app simply keeps using the content it already has
What is stored on your device
Each app saves a small number of preferences locally on your device only, using Android's standard app-storage mechanism. These never leave your device and are not accessible to us or anyone else.
ALIRA Dict stores:
- your selected display language (English / Bahasa Melayu / Chinese / Iban)
- your selected text-to-speech voice and speaking speed
- the last level/topic you were browsing
- whether content updates are restricted to Wi-Fi
ALIRA Numerasi stores:
- your text-to-speech settings (on/off, automatic reading, speed, and voice)
- your selected language for word meanings
- your default practice level and question count
Uninstalling an app removes all of its locally stored data.
Text-to-speech
Both apps use your device's built-in text-to-speech engine (the same one used by other apps on your phone) to read content aloud. This happens entirely on-device; no audio or text is sent anywhere by either app.
Children's privacy
Both apps are designed for use by primary-school (KSSR) pupils under teacher or parent supervision. Because neither app collects any personal data from any user, including children — and ALIRA Dict's content-update checks carry no personal or device-identifying information either — neither app implicates COPPA or similar children's privacy regulations that govern the collection of personal information.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes (for example, if a future version of either app adds a feature that does collect data), we will update this page and the "Effective date" above.
